  • If you are upgrading from versions prior to BA 4.8.x or DI 4.4.x of the software, visit previous versions of the documentation to upgrade incrementally, version by version, until you get to PDI version 4.4.x or BA version 4.8.x of the software.
  • If you are upgrading from versions BA 4.8.x or DI 4.4.x of the software, follow the instructions in the BA Migration and DI Migration documents to migrate to version 5.2.x. You do not need to complete any other instructions in this guide.
  • If you are upgrading from versions BA or DI 5.0.x or 5.1.0 of the software, follow the instructions in the  Upgrade BA Systems and Upgrade DI Systems  before you complete the steps in this document. When you are finished, return to this document (Upgrade BA and DI) to upgrade from 5.1.2 or 5.2 to 5.2.x.

Introduction

In addition to the installation steps, the update process uses a set of backup and recovery scripts to aid in the backup, recovery, and transfer of your system’s existing configuration files. We recommend that you read through this entire document before you perform the installation steps.  Becoming familiar with the entire update process allows you to create a strategy which can increase your likelihood of a successful update experience.

We recommend that you initially perform this update in a development test environment before upgrading your production environment. To minimize the impact to your day-to-day operations, we suggest that you perform this update during off-business hours. If you need assistance, contact Technical Support. If you need help tailoring the update process for your environment, contact Concierge or Consulting Services.
